I love it. Jesus expects nothing less  . The book of Ruth takes place during the time of the judges. In the entire Bible the name of Ruth only occurs 13 times in 13 total verses. Isn't that what it means to share the gospel? Ruth 1:16-17 shows the type of commitment that should be standard for families and marriages today. And sadly this is what happens with many so-called Christians today. What Naomi did was tell them the truth and gave them the opportunity to count the cost of having the Lord God of Israel as their God. Their return to Bethlehem coincides with the beginning of the barley harvest. To get from Moab to Bethlehem Ruth and Naomi would have travelled 1814.2 miles and crossed the Jordan River. Naomi did and we see her now, like the prodigal, ready to return home  . If we never knew famine, if we constantly lived in season of âplentyâ, then we would never fully appreciate Gods mercy, favour and blessings in our lives. No one ever sees them again.
